Presentation in Belgium? What city? Funny that just a few days ago I was telling a friend about three culinary treats of Belgium that cannot be equalled anywhere else. While you're there, be sure to buy (a) a waffle from a street vendor; (b) chocolate at a chocolate shop; and (c) frittes with the mayonnaisy-type sauce at any cheap eating joint. Seriously.

The presentation is in Gent (Ghent?). Do they have those treats?

I just reserved my room at (drum roll, please) The Best Western Hotel Court St. Georges.

BEST WESTERN?!?!?! (Well, to be fair, it's actually a pretty old guest house, going back to the 12th century... But really... Best Western?!?)

By the way, your buddy Hayden White's gonna be there, talking about "Historicality as a Trope of Political Discourse"...

So you get waffles, Hayden, chocolate, frittes, and a 12th-century Best Western? Way to go! There aren't many academics who can say that!

Argh! I missed the waffles! (But I got the chocolate and fries--great!)
