Karen Kingsbury in the news

In case you didn't catch it, Sunday's Taipei Times had an article about our friend and former Tunghai colleague/teacher Karen Kingbury. (As I mentioned a while back, Karen and Michael Jacques and their son Henry moved [back] to the States this summer.) The article is about the publication of Karen's translations of some of Eileen Chang's work. The translations are collected in the book, Love in a Fallen City.

(Thanks to Douglas Jarvie for the link.)

Okay, here's a small world thing: I went to college with Karen. She probably has no idea who I am, but we probably have lots of mutual friends...because that's what Whitties (we Whitman grads) are like! Plus, the college has a strong China Teaching exchange program...

I remember you mentioning this once, Susan. I think it was when I first knew that you were a Whittie (or Whitty?) and I mentioned Karen... Yeah--it's a small world!

Not only is it a small world, but I have a swiss cheesy brain...I *thought* we'd had this conversation, but then, in my mind, I have so many voices...talking...laughing at me...telling me to do things...
