Going crazy...

For the past two weeks, workers in the apartment downstairs have been knocking out walls, drilling into concrete, and doing whatever else they can do to make as much noise as possible. It's not only driving me absolutely insane, but it's also got me worried that some day we're going to wake up in the morning and find ourselves in the basement. Grrrrr...

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the chemicals they're spraying down there. Paint? Paint remover? I don't know... For some reason, though, it reminds me of "The Cloud Minders" from Star Trek...

[Update, Sep. 5: They're still doing work--hammering, sawing, drilling, shouting, smoking, all as loudly as they can. I hear they'll only be doing it for 10 more days, though...]

Wow, I hope you have adequate ventilation if they are literally spraying chemicals underneath you! Hopefully the renovation won't go on much longer so you won't be subjected to the noise, or the smells, any longer than necessary.

Well, today it was quiet for a while... until I needed to do some recording of my voice. Then the drills came out with a vengeance.

I forgot to mention the dust that's being spread around, too.... grumble grumble grumble...

I know how mad it can be to live in a residence with so many noises. It keeps annoying you so much that you can't concentrate on anything, and would like to go out as far as you can. That’s my personal experience with agony and suffering for the past five years living outside. However, that's the place I chose with such a bad luck, and I have no other option except for enduring.
How worse that could be! Imagine that you will hear the loud conversation with frequent “yelling and laughing” in the middle of the night, and it could last for the whole night till the sunrise. Even the noise of playing on-line computer games stopped, the nightmare was not over yet. When I was about to take a scarce rest, I would be waken up by the elderly people with the sounds of chopping woods and other chores about five (perfectly on time).
That's my extremely terrible experience of living there with no good sleep at all.
Hope your noisy situation will terminate sooner than mine! (Hopefully it won't last longer than you can endure!)

Well, at least they give us the weekends off here. And the drilling/grinding sounds aren't all day anymore. (For folks not living in Taiwan, I should mention that all this drilling is through concrete.)
